I like politics. It's excellent entertainment in Canada, and while the Montreal Canadiens currently stink it up on ice, it's about the only news I can read without wanting to cry.
The Globe and Mail features excellent commentary. I wish Jeffrey Simpson could produce articles every hour on the hour. I'd read them all. Unfortunately, each article has a "comments" section, where readers can share their fair and balanced opinions with the world, and it's so depressing. According to the enlightened readers, either Stephen Harper is the devil or Stephane Dion is incompetent (I don't know which is worse).
Personally, I'm a supporter of Dion. In fact, I'd even consider volunteering for the Liberal party should an election drop in the next few months, but I can't support any name calling. It's just so childish. People who support the Conservative party aren't idiots or extremists. Likewise, Liberal supporters certainly aren't pinheads. If they were, I'd be joining my friends at the sideshow in the circus.
The thing that interests me is the divide between professional journalist and the hyper emotional amateur. Did Jeffrey Simpson start his career in a university newspaper abusing student politicians and condemning university officials? Or did he always attempt to understand all sides of a debate? If his views developed the way mine did, then I bet there'd be a few disturbing articles hidden in Mr. Simpson's vault.

Back to blogging
I've decided to move my page to blogger. This way it will be easier and cheaper for me to update. Not that I expect people to read this... ever.
